An independent practice, available where it's needed.

Approach

Academy Anesthesia is a single-physician practice built around the work itself: showing up prepared, communicating clearly with surgeons and facility staff, and caring for each patient individually.

The model is simple. Good anesthesia is perioperative medicine — a physician accountable for the whole patient from before the case begins through to a safe recovery, not just the hours in the operating room. I provide that care directly, under both independent 1099 contracts and multi-state locum coverage, and work to set the surgeon, the facility, and the patient's own physicians up for a good outcome.

Beyond clinical coverage, I build software — including max-local.app, a point-of-care maximum-dose reference for local anesthetics, and findsquad.app, a tool for coordinating organized search efforts. Both are available online and in app stores.

Practice Settings

Hospitals, including trauma centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and office-based surgical practices across Colorado and the Front Range.

Locum Tenens

Multi-state locum availability for facilities and recruitment partners. Currently licensed in Colorado and Arizona, with additional states available through IMLC.

Clinical Scope

General anesthesia, regional anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, and obstetric anesthesia. Comfortable across ASC and hospital-based settings.

About

Background

I trained in anesthesiology after a decade of active duty military service. The path was non-traditional — United States Air Force Academy, ten years as an Air Force officer in nuclear missile operations and satellite communications, with combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, then medical school at the University of Arizona, an internal medicine internship, and anesthesiology residency.

That background shapes how I work. Preparation is non-negotiable, communication is direct, and the work happens on time. The "Academy" in Academy Anesthesia refers to the United States Air Force Academy, where the standards I still hold myself to were set.

For recruiters and staffing partners.

Working Together

I work with a small number of recruiters and staffing firms on a selective basis. The information below is intended to save us both time. If a position aligns with the criteria below, please reach out directly with specifics — facility, dates, and rate.

What I'm looking for — and what I'm not.

Reaching out about a position is welcome when it fits the model below. Generic mass outreach, unrelated specialties, or W-2 conversions of independent contractor roles will not get a response. A short, specific message gets a same-week reply.

I'm interested in

  • 1099 independent contractor engagements
  • Direct payment to Academy Anesthesia PLLC
  • Locum coverage in CO, AZ, NE, and additional IMLC states
  • Per diem and ongoing contracts at independent ASCs and surgical facilities
  • Roles where the facility provides malpractice or where coverage is portable
  • Positions with clear scope, schedule, and rate disclosed up front

Please don't send

  • W-2 employment offers
  • Roles requiring relocation outside CO / AZ / IMLC region
  • Mass outreach without facility, dates, or rate
  • Positions for non-anesthesia specialties
  • Broad non-compete clauses that restrict practice beyond the contracted facility
  • Engagements requiring full-time exclusivity
